The human version (we wrote this, not the council)
This section introduces the strategic policies in Chapter 5. These form the core of the Local Plan, setting the overall spatial strategy for the pattern, scale and quality of development, and how needs for housing, employment, infrastructure and environmental protection will be met. They provide for homes including affordable housing, economic development, community facilities and the conservation of the natural, built and historic environment, and form the basis for the more detailed policies in Chapter 7.

Chapter 5 – Spatial Strategy and Strategic Policies
Strategic policies form the core of the Local Plan, setting out the overarching spatial strategy for the pattern, scale and quality of development across Buckinghamshire, and establishing how identified needs for housing, employment, infrastructure and environmental protection will be met over the plan period. The NPPF requires that development plans include strategic policies to address Buckinghamshire’s priorities for the development and use of land. These provide a clear, positive and deliverable vision for sustainable growth, and a framework for meeting economic, social and environmental objectives. These policies make appropriate provision for homes (including affordable housing), economic development, infrastructure, community facilities and the conservation and enhancement of the natural, built and historic environment. These policies provide the basis for more detailed nonstrategic policies set out in chapter 7, ensuring the plan-led system delivers sustainable development and informs consistent, transparent decision-making.
