Tips for a response that counts
Say who you are. Living nearby, running a shop or using the
service every week gives your reply real weight.Answer the questions asked. Replies that wander off still get
logged, but they carry a lot less weight.Be specific. “The junction already floods twice a
year” tells them far more than “this is a bad idea”.Bring evidence. Dates, photos and counts are worth more than
strength of feeling.Suggest an alternative. A workable option is much harder to
ignore than a complaint.Use your own words. Piles of identical template letters are
often logged as a single view.Keep a copy of what you sent and the date.
Submit a formal representation. This is the only response
that must be considered at the plan’s independent examination. The
emails below are worth sending too, but they do not count as representations.

In the portal, open the chapter or policy you want to comment on and press Comment on that item. There is no single box for the whole plan, and you will need to create an account first.
Write your comments before you open the portal: a notes
app, an email draft or paper all work. Paste each one in and keep a copy.
