The human version (we wrote this, not the council)
This policy sets the spatial strategy for development to 2050. It prioritises previously developed urban land, concentrates greenfield growth into larger strategic areas so infrastructure can be delivered, favours locations near existing facilities based on 20-minute neighbourhood principles, requires efficient densities and promotes walking, cycling and public transport. It names two new communities, at Hatton and Long Marston Airfield, plus Strategic Growth Locations including Bidford-on-Avon, Bishop's Tachbrook, Henley-in-Arden, Kenilworth, three sites around Leamington Spa and land south of Coventry.

Policy DS.2
Spatial Development Strategy
The distribution of development across South Warwickshire to 2050 reflects the
vision of the SWLP to achieve sustainable travel and economic growth.
Development will be focused at new settlements and within and adjacent to existing
built-up areas at a scale sufficient to ensure appropriate services and infrastructure
are delivered to support growth.
Development across South Warwickshire will be delivered through:
• Utilising previously developed land in urban areas as the highest priority;
• Where greenfield land is needed, concentrating this into larger areas of
strategic growth to deliver the necessary infrastructure to make development
sustainable for future communities
• Using locations which are within reach of existing facilities or providing new
services on site where there is an identified need to achieve, where
possible, 20-minute neighbourhood principles
• Building at densities that make efficient use of land
• Promoting active travel, improving access by walking, cycling and public
transport for existing and future residents
