The human version (we wrote this, not the council)
This section explains the purpose of the community facilities policy: making sure communities can reach the services, facilities and social infrastructure they need. It describes how the policy will be delivered through the detailed Chapter 7 rules on infrastructure delivery, health impact assessment, community, sport and leisure facilities, food growing and fast food outlets, alongside wider policies on design, transport, biodiversity and flooding, so facilities are accessible and support healthy, inclusive communities.

Community facilities and local services
Purpose
5.149 The purpose of this policy is to ensure that communities have access to an appropriate range of services, facilities and social infrastructure to support sustainable development. The policy seeks to protect existing facilities, support the provision of new and enhanced facilities where required and promote inclusive, healthy and resilient communities.
Implementation through Development Management Policies
5.150 The delivery of community facilities and local services through Policy SP12 will be supported by the Development Management policies in Chapter 7. Proposals will be expected to accord with policies relating to Infrastructure Delivery, Health Impact Assessment, Community, Sport and Leisure Facilities and Sport, Leisure and Recreation. These policies provide the detailed framework for protecting and enhancing community infrastructure, supporting the provision of health, education, cultural, sport and recreation facilities, and ensuring that development contributes towards the creation of healthy, inclusive and sustainable communities.
5.151 Development proposals will also be expected to comply with policies relating to Community Food Growing, Fast Food Outlets and Takeaways, Transport Requirements for New Development, Parking Standards, Public Rights of Way and Telecommunications Infrastructure where relevant. Together, these policies support accessibility, social inclusion, active lifestyles and improved access to services and facilities across Buckinghamshire.
5.152 In addition, proposals should accord with other relevant Development Management policies relating to Design of Developments, Residential Amenity, Space Standards, Biodiversity Protection and Enhancement, Biodiversity Gain and Nature Recovery, Green Infrastructure, Trees, Ancient and Veteran Trees, Woodlands and Orchards, Landscape Character and Visual Amenity, Pollution, Air Quality and Contaminated Land, Flood Risk, Sustainable Drainage Systems and Water Efficiency Standards. Together, these policies ensure that community facilities are delivered in accessible and sustainable locations, contribute positively to environmental quality, support climate resilience and help create healthy, attractive and wellconnected places for residents and visitors.
