Policy NH1

Northwood Headquarters (MOD)

On pages 180 to 181 of the official PDF.

The human version

This policy supports new development at Northwood Headquarters that enhances or sustains its operational capability. It also supports the redevelopment, conversion and reuse of redundant Ministry of Defence sites and buildings. Other non-military development in or around the site will not be supported if it would harm military operations, unless the effect is mitigated or there is no longer a defence need for the site. The council will normally defer to the Ministry of Defence on national security matters.

nnel. NH1 - Northwood Headquarters (MOD) 1) New development at Northwood Headquarters that helps to enhance or sustain its operational capability will be supported. 2) Redevelopment, conversion and change of use of redundant MOD sites and buildings will be supported. 3) Non-military or non-defence related development within or in the areas around the Northwood Headquarters site will not be supported where it would adversely affect military operations or capability, unless the effect is suitably mitigated against or it can be demonstrated that there is no longer a defence or military need for the site. This council recognises this and will defer whenever possible to representations from the Ministry of Defence regarding the national secur

Tips for a response that counts

One focused page beats ten rambling ones. Read the full guide to consultations

  1. Submit a formal representation. This is the only response that must be considered at the plan’s independent examination. The emails below are worth sending too, but they do not count as representations. Open the official response portal

This portal is one form for the whole plan, and it asks which policy or site allocation you are commenting on. Quote the policy reference and page numbers shown here in your answer so your point is logged against the right part.

Write your comments before you open the portal: a notes app, an email draft or paper all work. Paste each one in and keep a copy. Ticking policies as you read builds the draft for you on the My response page.

  2. Email your ward councillors. They voted on this plan and represent you. The draft raises the consultation window and the missing costs.
