3 sections of the plan, in document order.

The human version (we wrote this, not the council)This section sets out the site allocations for Chorleywood. Eight housing sites are allocated, references H18 to H26 (there is no H19), with a combined indicative capacity of around 217 homes. The largest are Land at Chorleywood Station (81 homes), North Hill Farm (57 homes) and Hill Farm, Stag Lane (40 homes); the smallest include garage sites and Chorleywood Library at five homes each. Site tables cover size, phasing, Green Belt or grey belt status and site-specific requirements such as access, heritage and flood mitigation.

The human version (we wrote this, not the council)This section sets out the site allocations for Mill End. Four sites are allocated with a combined indicative capacity of around 548 homes. The main site is Land to the South of Shepherds Lane and East of the M25, a 20.8 hectare grey belt site for 520 homes plus supporting uses including gypsy and traveller pitches, a medical centre or GP surgery, extra care housing and public open space. The remaining sites are small: garages behind Drillyard on West Way (6 homes), Quickwood Close garages (16) and garden land off Uxbridge Road (6).

The human version (we wrote this, not the council)This policy protects the district's heritage, including 352 listed buildings, 22 Conservation Areas, Scheduled Monuments, registered parks and gardens, and locally important buildings. Applications affecting a designated heritage asset must include a Heritage Statement explaining the asset's significance and the proposal's impact. Substantial harm to or loss of listed buildings and other designated assets will be refused unless substantial public benefits outweigh the harm. In Conservation Areas, development must preserve or enhance character and appearance, with strict tests for demolition, and reuse of historic buildings to help tackle climate change is supported where significance is not harmed.

Tips for a response that counts

One focused page beats ten rambling ones. Read the full guide to consultations

  1. Submit a formal representation. This is the only response that must be considered at the plan’s independent examination. The emails below are worth sending too, but they do not count as representations. Open the official response portal

This portal is one form for the whole plan, and it asks which policy or site allocation you are commenting on. Quote the policy reference and page numbers shown here in your answer so your point is logged against the right part.

Write your comments before you open the portal: a notes app, an email draft or paper all work. Paste each one in and keep a copy. Ticking policies as you read builds the draft for you on the My response page.

  2. Email your ward councillors. They voted on this plan and represent you. The draft raises the consultation window and the missing costs.
